Nineteen Burmese nationals arrested at Bangladesh border

Nineteen Rohingya community of Burmese nationals were arrested from the entry point of Shapuri Dip by Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on March 31, while entering the Bangladesh, Kamal Uddin, a local from Teknaf said.
Twelve men, five women including two children along with a row boat crossed Burma-Bangladesh at night at around 12: 00 am, Kamal added.

On being tipped off, members of BGB personnel raided and arrested them from the Gularsar point of Shapuri Dip and then they were detained in BGB custody for three hours, according to BGB officials.

They tried to enter the Bangladesh for medical treatment, visiting relatives and some want to search work for human rights abuses and harassments against the Rohingya community by the Burmese authorities, Hamid Hossain said.

However, they were pushed back to Burma again the same night at around 3:00 am, Lt. Col. Mohammed Abu Zar Al Zahid said.
