U Hla Myint, the Maungdaw township officer took huge amount of money from two Rohingyas who was appointed for village guard officers on June 18, said an officer from Township admin office who denied to be named.
U Hla Myint had taken one million kyats from Abdul Rashid for Purwut Chaung (Faul Khail) village guard officer and two million kyats from Abdul Gaffor for Kyikan Pyin (Kawa Bil) village guard officer, the officer more added.
Similarly, the admin officer U Hla Myint had taken more money from Rohingyas who are willing to hold the position for village guard officers or village admin officers between the power transferring period of USDP to NLD, said Nawzir Ahmed, ex- village admin officer who gave more money for the post of village admin officer.
“I had given 12 million kyats for the post of Myinn Hlut (May Rulla) village admin officer where I was elected by people which was held last December, 2015. But, U Hla Myint had taken 22 million kyats from Enayet Ullah and issued the appointment letter on January 3, 2016, “said Nawzir Ahmed, former villager admin officer of Myinn Hlut.
In Maungdaw district, Rohingya community are not allow after 2015 election as village admin officer even the Rohingya villagers selected him in the election where the village tract was mixed with Rakhine and Rohingya, said Halim, a Human Rights Watchdog from Maungdaw.
But, U Hla Myint and other officer in Maungdaw district, had made election for village admin officers and village guard officers even declaring before 2015 election as Rohingyas are not allow for voting and standing for candidate. In Maungdaw, the high level officers declared the election of village admin officers and village guard officers, allowing Rohingya community to contest the election by taking more money from them, Halim said.
