Huge Yaba tablets seized in Teknaf

Teknaf, Bangladesh:  Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) of Teknaf seized about 5, 80,000 Yaba tablets from Sarbran Kurermogh area in Teknaf upazila under Cox’s Bazar district on April 13 early morning, according to Teknaf police station.
The Yaba tablets are being smuggled to Bangladesh in huge amount from Burma by water way, a trader Habib from Teknaf said.

The deputy Commander of Teknaf BGB Battalion No.2 Major Abu Rashel Siddiquee told at press briefing that the Yaba tablets were seized at the Kurer Mogh of Sarbrang area under Teknaf upazila while being smuggled to Bangladesh from Myanmar by a boat, at around 1:30 AM.

The estimated cost of the seized Yaba tablets is Taka 174 million. However, the smugglers fled the scene, sensing the presence of BGB members. the BGB Commander more added.

According to BGB officials, the BGB seized over 9.93 million pieces of Yaba within last 2012 to April 13, 2016 from Burma–Bangladesh border, estimated cost was over Taka 297.98 million.
