USA ambassador to visit Kutupalong refugee camp

Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh:  USA Ambassador Ms. Bernicat of Dhaka is to visit to Khutupalong unregistered refugee camp on December 22, a refugee leader Jalal from Kutupalong camp said. The Ambassador arrived at Cox’s Bazar today, at noon, for two days visit along with 8 other members including— US embassy political officer, Troy Oliver (Director of USAID), Democracy and Governance  Director and US embassy Human rights, according to local Newspaper.

After arriving there, the ambassador met with Cox‘s Bazar Deputy Commissioner (DC), USAID members and project implementing Agency.

However, on December22, the team will proceed to Kutupalong Rohingya refugee (official and makeshift) camps. They will hold meetings with Camp Management Committee (CMC), Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), IOM (International Organization for Migration) and UNHCR.

When asked a refugee, he said, “We are very happy and welcome  the ambassador.”
