Robbed Taka 280,000 from a refugee in Nayapara camp

Teknaf, Bangladesh:  Robbers robbed Taka 280,000 from a refugee in Nayapara registered refugee camp on July 23, night, said a refugee leader named Anu Meah. “On that day, at about 1:00 pm, a group of unknown person pretending as police, wearing water-proof and entered the room of Zura Begum (27), wife of Mohamed Alam, MRC # Z-1760, Shed # 1212/1, Block-H of Nayapara camp and took away Taka 2,80,000, victim’s refugee ID card and a receipt of gold ornament, which was given by a gold smith.”

After reaching at the door of the shed, the group of robbers asked the victim “to open the door for checking your room as there is Yaba smugglers in the room,” according to Zura Begum.

However, Mohamed Alam, the husband of Zura Begum, sent the money for his family members from Malaysia and received from victim’s relative by her son one day before the robbery, Zura Begum more added.

Refugees believe that maybe, the robbers are local miscreants as local people frequently enter the refugee camp for their personal matter, said Kalu from the camp.

Refugees informed to the concerned authorities— Camp-in-Charge and camp security police and they will be proceeding for further action.

Though there are security forces—Ansar and police, how the robbers were able to enter the camp, said one of the refugee on condition of anonymity.
