Municipal officer ordered to clean the drainage by Rohingya

Maungdaw, Arakan State: An executive officer of Maungdaw municipal office ordered only Rohingya shopkeepers and house owner between clock tower and Maungdaw Juma Mosajid to clean the drainage, said Rafique, an elder from the area.

The office didn’t issue the order through the office, only sending an office boy with verbal ordered, Rafique said.

The municipal office cleaned the drainage one times in a year. It happen every year and this year the officer ordered only Rohingya area to clean themselves. It is surprised for Maungdaw people as the office collects garbage cleaning fee from every household and shop, Rafique more said.

“If this is new system of municipal, why not ordered to all Maungdaw people who are living on the main road including shop owners and house owners,” said Hamid, a shopkeeper from Maungdaw.

Maung Tin Oo son of U Ba Thein, a native of Maungdaw Township is the executive officer of Maungdaw municipal office. He know how to deal and harass the Rohingya with his position power, Hamid said.
