Government arrange ceremony of novitiate for Khathey community in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The government of Burma – the district admin officer, township admin officer, border guard police officers, high level army officers and other officials from Maungdaw- arranged a ceremony of novitiate –initiate boys into the Buddhist order-  today , according to an officer who claim not to be named.
The ceremony was organized by Allodawpay monetary and the Khathey community were brought from Ngar Yant Chaung (Narain Chaung) by vehicles to Maungdaw this morning, the officer said.

“U Hsan Sint, the Minister of Religious Affairs joined the ceremony to bless and encourage the Khathey community who has no religious before and now to convert Buddhist.”

The government is encouraging the Khathey community as they converted into Buddhist and giving them more facility to them where they are living, said Haroon, an elder from Maungdaw.

This community are living in Ngar Yant Chaung since long and the government had given security for them where they lived. No, other community are allowed to meet them, Haroon, said.

Nobody know, why these community come in Maungdaw and living secretly and the government have given them protection, Haroon more added.

These community used huge money when they came to Maungdaw market with security guards and people thinking that may be they are producing drug where no one was allowed, said Tamin, a school teacher from Maungdaw.

The government is giving all facility to them for novitiate ceremony, but using the vehicles of Rohingya with requisition  where authority  are not giving  full of their requirement –fuel, drivers and staffs foods, said Halim , a Human Rights Watchdog from Maungdaw.

“There is other vehicles of Mogh, but the authority only requisition to Rohingya vehicles,” said Hasu, a student from Maungdaw.
