Maungdaw, Arakan State: Rakhine community from Maungdaw gathered and demonstrated in front of INGOs offices – UNHCR and AZE (MSF) – on February 10 at about 1:00pm, said Halim, a Human Rights Watchdog from Maungdaw.
The Rakhine community from Maungdaw gathered at Central Monastery (Bohoo Kjaun Tai) at about 1:00pm and headed to 4 Miles where UNHCR office is situated with 16 Taxi vehicles, 4 family car and 30 motorbikes. Total Rakhine are near 350 only. The Rakhine community demonstrated 5 minutes in front of UNHCR and back to Maungdaw, Halim said.
“On the way to Maungdaw, the Rakhine community group stop at Myoma Kayoungdan village where Médecins sans Frontières-Holland (AZG) is located. The group also demonstrated only 3 minutes in front of AZE office.”
The Rakhine community group shouted slogans in front of INGOs offices as “UN Get Out, AZG Get Out, INGOs Get Out, No voting rights and selection with white card”, Halim more added.
“The Mogh also demanded to leave UN and INGOs from Maungdaw district within 7 days,” said Hasu, an elder from Maungdaw.
Most of Mogh were brought from rural areas with paying 5000 kyat to join the demonstration and Mogh from municipal were asked to pay them more than rural areas Mogh, Hasu said.
The Mogh group staged a demonstration in front of AZE as the NGO reported that they had given treatment more than 22 Rohingya who were wounded in the event of Du Chee Ya Tan village last month, which was denied by the state government and central government, said Ali, a school teacher from Maungdaw.
The Rohingya from Duchee Ya Tan lost their lives and property, now living under the open sky. But, the Mogh and authority said no Rohingya were killed as per government inquire committee, said Ali.
International media and rights groups reported that more than 48 Rohingya from Du Chee Ya Tan were killed by state security force and Mogh from Kharay Mine Natala village, but Burmese government denied it and set a government puppet inquire committee to investigate the event. But, the International community urged the government to give permission to international investigation group to find the real fact.
