Bangladesh Naval force arrests eight Rakhines at Bay of Bengal

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Bangladesh Navy arrested eight Rakhines with trawler by Bangladesh Naval forces on January 30 while they were coming to Bangladesh from Burma with Burmese timbers, Lalu, a local from Teknaf town said.
“It was seized with 1,500 cubic ft timbers from the Bay of Bengal by Naval forces which were brought to Teknaf land port from Burma.”

According to the naval forces, the naval forces arrested them with trawler because they ( rakhine) didn’t have any legal documents.

The Commander Jasim of the naval ship said that the seized trawler with arrestees was handed over to Teknaf police station for further investigation.

However, the arrestees have been detained and interrogated at Teknaf police station, Forhad, the Office-in-Charge said.

A businessman from Teknaf Land Port said that Burmese timbers and other essential goods have been importing to Bangladesh from Burma since long.
