Hluntin arrests handicapped, banana seller in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State: Hluntin (riot police) arrested a handicapped, banana seller in Maungdaw yesterday over the allegation that he was washing his face with his longyi after lifting it in front of a school headmistress, according to Hakim (not real name) from the locality.
“The victim is identified as—Nazir Ahmed,30; son of Noor Ahmed, hailed from Thay Chaung village under the Phar Wut Chaung village Tract of Maundaw Township.”

On that day, at around 12:00, the victim arrived in front of an affiliated Middle School of Maung Nama village with some bananas to sell the students. Afterwards, he was washing his face with his longyi after lifting it. Meanwhile, the headmistress Daw Khin Ohn of the said school was coming to school lonely and saw the event of the Nazir Ahmed, the Hakim more added.

The headmistress believed that the victim insulted her showing his penis (private organ) to her. But, in really, he did not saw her and has no intention to insult her. Everybody in the village gives respect to the headmistress as she supervises the school, a local leader named Lalu ( not real name) said

However, the headmistress appraised the event to the security force (Hluntin or police) against the Nazir Ahmed. He is very poor, handicapped man and survives by selling banana in suitable palaces, the Lalu more said.

Local villagers surprised the arrest of Nazir Ahmed by security force after giving allegation to them by the headmistress. After arrest, he was brought to Aung Mingal police out-post camp of Maungdaw where he was kept in detention center. Later, he was sent to Maungdaw police station, a relative of the victim said.

“He is a paralyzed, paraplegia and foolish man. How did he insult to Saya Magyi?, said a local elder preferring not to be named.

Local villagers believe that “It is a creative plan against the Rohingya community, to show the people (Rakhine and Rohingya), still the Rohingya people don’t want reconciliation between two groups,” a local businessman said on condition of anonymity.

“It is coincided the arrival of OIC delegation in Maungdaw Township, so the Rakhine people want to create problems in Maungdaw Twonship, said Nasir (not real name) from Maungdaw Town.
