Rohingya abducted in Teknaf – border town

Teknaf, Bangladesh: A Rohingya was abducted by Bangladeshi local youths from Teknaf- a border town of Burma-Bangladesh border- on June 4 night, Hossain, a local said from Teknaf. The abducted was identified as— Shazed (25), son of Sultan Ahamed, hailed from Khayang Khali (Kayoung change) of Maungdaw Township. He recently came to Bangladesh to work as there is no work inside Arakan to support his parents.

Shazed was abducted from his rented house of Lombori village under the Teknaf police station by a group of local youths and brought to the forest of Dum Dum Meah, according to sources.

In the forest, he was fastened to a tree with a rope tightly and severely beaten up by them. After that, the local youths forced him to call their relatives   and family members who live in Arakan State. But, the victim called only his family members over mobile phone and asked them to send Taka 200,000 for his release, a friend of him said quoting the victim.

However, later, some relatives who live in refugee camp, came to know the matter and gave complaint to the Teknaf police station regarding the event.

The police of Teknaf arrested four local youths from the areas of Lombori after conducting operation. Police recovered the victim from the forest after 12 hours, said a relative of the victim.
