Nasaka beat up Bangladeshi fisherman in the border

Ukhiya, Bangladesh: A group of Nasaka personnel beat up a Bangladeshi fisherman, working inside Bangladesh territory water on March 2, said Annu Meah, a local fisherman from Ukyiya.
“Mostak Ahamed (37), son of Zabbar Mulluk, hailed from Palongkhali union under the Ukhiya police station of Cox’s Bazar district, went to Naff river upper side (narrow river) for fishing within Bangladesh side while 10 members of Nasaka went the river bank from Burma side at about 9:30am in the morning. Seeing the Nasaka personnel, he ran way in fear by keeping the small seine net (Bara).”

The Nasaka personnel entered the Bangladesh territory and beat him up severely with guns while he run away seeing them, according to victim’s statement.

The villagers of the locality and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) heard his screaming and rushed to the spot, but Nasaka personnel fled from the Bangladesh territory when the people coming to the spot, according to villagers.

However, Mostak was brought to clinic and admitted by local villagers.

Regarding the matter, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) between Nasaka personnel held flag meeting to solve the problem on March 2. In the meeting, Nasaka personnel explained they tried to arrest smugglers who run ways from Burma.

During the meeting, the members of BGB had raised the problem – Mostak is not smuggler and is a fisherman- where Nasaka personnel show deep sorrowful about their beat up him, BGB official said.
