Teknaf, Bangladesh: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested more than 100 Rohingyas from Bangladesh-Burma border since the first week of January 2013, said a local trader from Teknaf.
“BGB arrested more than 100-Rohingya from different areas of along the border after being conducted operation.”
On January 11, at about 8:00 am, the members of Whykong BGB check-post arrested 12 Rohingyas from the vehicles while they were going to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf. Later, they were pushed back to Burma after investigating by BGB the same day, said an aide of BGB.
Similarly, BGB arrested 27 Rohingyas from different places of Shapuri Dip and Dum Dum Meah in raided on January 10.
After arrest, they were also pushed back to Burma by BGB, according to official.
Over 30 Rohingyas were also arrested from entry point of Sapran union under the Teknaf police station by BGB on January 9, while they were entering the Bangladesh from Arakan State, Burma. They were also pushed back to Burma later, said a local Hussain from Teknaf.
Hussain also said, BGB arrested over 27 Rohingya from the border point of Gumdum under the Naikonchari upazila and pushed back to Burma on January 4.
