Border security force’s arrest continued in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Burma’s border security force’s (Nasaka) arrest against the Rohingya people is continued in Maungdaw Township without any justifications, a businessman from the locality, said on condition of anonymity.
On December 4, Mohamed Ayub (45), son of Salamat Ullah, hailed from Kyauk Hla Gaar village of Nasaka area No.6, was arrested by Nasaka personnel of Kyauk Hla Gaar because of not cooperation with Nasaka. He was working with GE military unit in Burma-Bangladesh border where he was fencing barbed wire, so he did not follow the order of Nasaka, according to a local teacher preferring not to be named.

After arrest, he was brought to the Nasaka camp, and learnt that he was severely tortured and detained there so far.

Besides on the same day, the Nasaka of Nari Bill out-post camp of Nasaka area No.6 arrested Abdu Munaf (35), son of Buduros Meah and Osman (25), son of Ullah Meah while they were going to the Gala fishing net (conical fishing net set against the current) in the river, at about 8:00 pm. The restricted time is 10:00 pm.  Both of them are from Kyauk Pyin Seik village of Nasaka area No. 6 of Maungdaw Township. They are fishermen and were released after taking Kyat 10,000 per head, said a close relative of the victims.

The Nasaka is always trying to harass the Rohingya people without any care of higher authorities as they did not take any action against the Nasaka and it caused encouragement to them,  said  a local elder from Maungdaw town.
