Ten thousand Yaba tablets seized, arrested one in Burma-Bangladesh border

Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a man with 9850 pieces of Yaba tablets near Lada cannel of Teknaf union on October 22, evening, according to BGB information.
“Mohd.Hossain, 28, son Ali Ahmed, hailed from Rangikhali under Teknaf union, was arrested by BGB while he embarked from a boat which crossed the Naf River from Burma.”

“We got information that a big shipment of Yaba will come from Burma to Teknaf , Bangladesh via river route. So, we kept position near embankments of Naf River, Leda BOP duty officer Najrul Islam who led the operation, BGB officials noticed some suspect movement and when they asked the suspects to stop and checked the person where the BGB found 9850 Yaba on his body. The BGB arrested the person and sent to Teknaf police station for further investigation,” according to 42 BGB Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Mohamed Jahid Hasan

Lt. Col. Jahid also said, “Due to Qurban ( Muslim festivel), smugglers trying to smuggle Yaba through various points of Teknaf. So, the BGB members are in red alert and  watch every movement of people around the border. Due to this steps, we have seized 1,19,563 pieces of yaba tablet till today in October. We arrested five persons.”

The total valuation of Yaba is around 2.95 million taka, when asked Mohammed Farhard, the officer in charge of Tekaf police station. “A case has been filed in this regard.” he added.
