Police extort money from market goers in Maungdaw north

Maungdaw, Arakan State:  Police of Bawli Bazar (Kyein Chaung) police station of Maungdaw north extorts money from Rohingya villagers who are going to Bawli Bazar market, said a villager who was extorted money by police while he was going to market.
“Police extort money from Rohingya villagers who are met on the road or in the market. They extort Kyat 20,000 to 40,000 per head without finding any fault. Their fault is why they go to the market to buy essentials.”

The trouble makers are identified as police Sergeant U Kyaw Win, Second Sergeant U Tin Hlaing, police U Kyaw Moe and U Kyaw Aye Tint.

Nasaka extorts money from Rohingya villagers after arrests from homes, and the police extort money from the road and market. Where is the place that Rohingya community will be from extortion by authorities?, asked a village elder.
