BGB arrests two Rohingya girls at border

Teknaf, Bangladesh: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested two Rohingya girls at check -post of Whykong, yesterday at about 10: 30 pm, said a local from Teknaf.
“BGB of Whykong check-post arrested them from a bus after checking while they were going to Dhaka from Teknaf.”

The arrested girls have been identified as Ms Setara and Ms Anuwara of Arakan State, Burma.

According to a source, they crossed Burma-Bangladesh border on September 26 without knowledge of Bangladesh government. They were brought from Arakan to Bangladesh by a youth named Joniat.

“Joniat told them, will give jobs in Bangladesh, so, two girls fled to Bangladesh from Burma.”

A local village elder said that many Rohingya Muslims are trying to cross Burma-Bangladesh border because they have been persecuted, arbitrary arrested and killed by security forces since June 8 and also many Rohingya Muslims become homeless and jobless.

However, the two girls including Joniat were sent to Teknaf police station for further interrogation where police has filed a case against them, said an aide of BGB.
