Teknaf, Bangladesh: Fifteen Burmese fishermen along with a fishing boat were arrested by Bangladesh Navy Ship (BNS) on April 9, Hussain Ahamed, a local fisherman from Saint-Martin said. According to official, Bangladesh Navy Ship arrested the Burmese fishermen from Bangladesh territorial waters while the fishing.

Lt. Jasim Uddin of Bangladesh Navy Ship (BNS) said that the fifteen Burmese fishermen were arrested from Bangladesh side after being conducted operation by the Bangladesh Naval force on March 9 at noon, as they entered Bangladesh territorial waters for fishing illegally.

Later on, they were handed over to Teknaf police station for further interrogations, the officer further said.

However, police has filed case at Teknaf police station against them over the accusation that they  illegally entering Bangladesh territorial waters for fishing, according to Mamon, an aide of police.

Besides, the eight other Burmese fishermen were also arrested from Bangladesh side after being conducted operation by the Bangladesh Naval force on March 10 as they entered Bangladesh territorial waters for fishing illegally, Lt Majahar, Commander of Saint-Martin Naval camp said.
